Announcing the passing of a loved one in local news media is a long standing tradition and we are proud of the trust placed in us to make these important announcements. Every notice published to our newspaper and news site also appears on funeral-notices.co.uk - the UK’s number one site for death notices and memoriams.

Every notice remains online forever providing friends and families with a lifelong tribute to their loved one, a safe place online to share memories, add tributes, photographs and make donations in memory. Each week we pay tribute to the loved ones remembered in our area with a funeral notice and online tribute page.

To read the latest announcements and add tributes to those from our area who have passed away, or to create a funeral notice yourself, click here. Alternatively, you can create a notice by calling our helpful team on 01482 908084. Here are a selection of notices published earlier this week.

Lily BEATTIE (Dargue)

(Dargue) (Morpeth) Ten years have now gone by since our dear Mam passed away on 25th June 2014. Lily Hodgson Beattie (nee Dargue). A loving wife to Ken, devoted Mam to Kenneth and Susan, sister to Shirley and Alex, mother-in-law to Derek, grandma to Kevin and Lindsey, great grandma to Yasmin, Maisie, Hattie and Penny, sister-in-law to Bryan and Linda. Although the years have passed you're still in our thoughts and prayers every minute of every day. A wonderful, beautiful Mam, who gave her life working so hard for her family, in order to give them the chance to succeed. You were such a special person Mam, with such a wonderful sense of humour and you are sadly missed by all your family and many friends. You were taken away from us and we'll never be the same again, time will heal our pain and one day we will meet again.

Thomasina HODGSON (Tommy / Tina)

(Tommy / Tina ) West Denton Twelve years ago today we had to part with a wonderful mam, nana and great-nan we loved with all our hearts. You gave us many things in life gifts both great and small, But most of all you gave us love the greatest gift of all. The hardest thing in life to bear is when you're feeling lonely and shed a silent tear, when you feel all around has deserted you and no one cares, you really need your mam but she's not there. So dearly loved, so deeply missed. Love always. Carol x Craig x Joanne x Alastair x
